Cara Gramegna (she/her), ATR, LPC

I am a Registered Art Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor utilizing an open studio-based model of art therapy, which centers relational, client-centered, intersectional, and trauma-informed approaches to support clients in their growth and healing journey. I blend the use of art psychotherapy and art as therapy to provide a safe space for clients to get curious and play within the art therapy process (no matter their age!), cultivating a sense of comfort, safety, and freedom to question, to explore, and to experiment with art materials, reaching towards artistic and personal growth.

As an art therapist, I heavily value the belief that there are no right or wrong ways of making art, and hope to support my clients to lean into trusting themselves, their self-expression, their identities, and the creative process to move towards meaningful change. Whether we are talking directly about your struggles, getting messy together, or using the art to speak for you, I hope our space can offer respect, trust, and collaboration to meet you where you are at in your journey.

I have worked with and am passionate about continuing to serve clients who struggle with depression, anxiety, PTSD, C-PTSD, trauma, chronic illness, disability identities, neurodivergent identities and exploration, Bipolar I and II, LGBTQIA+ identity development, cultural identity, and acculturation stress. Theories I draw from include but are not limited to Art Therapy, Relational Therapy, IFS, ACT, Mindfulness Based Interventions, and Somatic and Body Awareness.

Some other things to know about me that may inform your decisions on choosing a therapist: I am queer, I have two cats, I am chronically ill, I love doing yoga, and reading, and you will always catch me making art right alongside you to deepen my own artistic process.

If art therapy sounds like the right fit for you, I would be honored to support you!
