Ava Mulrooney(she/her), MSW Intern

Hi, I’m Ava! I believe the ways we relate to ourselves and others are shaped by our earliest experiences, relationships, and the environments we move through.

Sometimes the patterns that once helped us survive can leave us feeling disconnected, stuck, or unsure of who we are. Therapy offers a space to slow down, explore those patterns, and create room for growth and change.

My approach is rooted in psychodynamic and trauma-informed therapy, with a focus on understanding the experiences and relationships that have shaped who you are today. I strive to create a therapeutic relationship where you feel genuinely understood, supported, and empowered to explore both the difficult and meaningful parts of your story.

As a Master of Social Work student at the University of Chicago Crown Family School with a clinical concentration. I am especially passionate about working with sexuality, identity, relationships, intimacy, and trauma. I have a particular interest in supporting individuals and couples as they navigate communication, relational patterns, life transitions, and their relationship with themselves and others.

As someone committed to LGBTQ+ affirming and sex-positive care, I believe conversations about sexuality deserve openness, curiosity, and freedom from shame.

Whether you are processing past experiences, exploring your identity, navigating relationships, or seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, I consider it a privilege to be part of that process. My hope is that therapy becomes a place where insight leads to greater self-compassion, connection, and authenticity. I look forward to working with you!
